2e REG: River Crossing Training

Young legionnaires who just joined the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the French Foreign Legion after finishing their 4-month-long basic training, are obliged to pass the Basic Specialty Training (Formation de Spécialité Initiale, FSI) conducted by their new regiment, to get initial combat engineering skills.

Among other combat engineering skills, young legionnaires must be familiarized also with Medium/light Crossing (Moyen Léger de Franchissement, MLF), a floating bridge system with boat pontoons, used as a combat engineering system to help the combat troops or vehicles to cross the river.
