Three videoclips, created and shared on YouTube by a former legionnaire of French nationality, with a large number of nice photos from the French Foreign Legion, made approximately 35 years ago (late 1970s, early 1980s).
13e DBLE in 1976-77
Photos from the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE), still based in Djibouti in the late 1970s.
4e RE (RILE) in the late 1970s
Unique photos (there are nearly not such pictures on the internet) from the 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE), based in Castelnaudary in the old barracks of Caserne Lapasset between 1976 and 1986, before moving to the new one, Quartier Danjou in May 1986. While the photos had been kept, the 4e RE was called a Foreign Legion Training Regiment (Régiment d’instruction de la Légion étrangère, RILE), till 1980.
2e REI (2e RE) in the late 1970s and early 1980s
Nice photos from the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI), based in the old barracks in Citadelle Monlaur in Bonifacio, Corsica, between 1972 and 1983 (it was simply 2e RE till 1980). There are old photos of the place and new pictures of today’s ruins of former Legion buildings. The Citadelle is a touristy sight nowadays.
