On July 14, 2014, French firefighters (sapeurs-pompiers) from the Northern Defence and Security Zone, taking part in the Bastille Day Parade for the first time, encountered the legionnaires on a street in Paris and greeted them with a standing ovation.

Legionnaires from the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG), accompanied by legionnaires-pionners and the Foreign Legion Music Band from the 1st Foreign Regiment (1er RE) were participated in the preparations for the French main national event of July 14 at the Champs-Élysées avenue of Paris.
