Between February 25 and 27, because of their departure to the Central African Republic (CAR) in mid-March, legionnaires from the 1st Company of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the Foreign Legion participated in the Oubangui exercise, which took part in Sault, a small commune in the Vaucluse department of southeastern France.

Since March 3, 2014, legionnaires of the Mountain equipment platoon (Section équipement montagne, SEM) from Support Company of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the French Foreign Legion, have been stationed in northern Norway.

During the first week of December, the legionnaires – sapeurs (military engineers) from the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) and 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the French Foreign Legion, celebrated its patron, Sainte Barbe (Saint Barbara).
Yesterday, the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) has published the images of its November’s military ceremony in the town of Apt, southeastern France. During the ceremony, two legionnaires received the decrees of naturalisation (gaining French nationality/citizenship) from the mayor of Apt. The regiment was also presenting itself to the public.
While a part of the 2e REG is in French Guiana now and the other part of the 2e REG is training for Mali, you can watch a short, authentic presentation of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) of the French Foreign Legion, made by a legionnaire from Brasil. As you can see, the legionnaires are really a bunch of good guys.
French Guiana and the French Foreign Legion? It is not only about the jungle survival activity or the extreme jungle training in South America. Even the young legionnaires of the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) have understood that… Once you are a legionnaire, you have to work too!

On 12th July 2013, Senior Corporal (Caporal-chef) Loureiro, a legionnaire from the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG), have died in an accident during the four-month mission in French Guiana.
