In late October and early November 2025, the Reconnaissance Squadron of the 13th Foreign Legion Demi-Brigade (13e DBLE) conducted an intensive tactical training session at Camp des Garrigues, near Nîmes in southern France. This long-established French Army training area, now managed by the 2e REI, provides a rugged and realistic environment ideal for maneuver and live-fire exercises.
During the exercise, the squadron’s specialized platoons worked to refine their tactical procedures and maintain their cohesion through shared effort and demanding field work. These include the Long-Range Sniper Platoon (Section des tireurs d’élite à longue distance, STELD), drone operators from the Infantry Robotics and Intelligence Platoon (Section Robotique Renseignement d’Infanterie, SRRI), and anti-tank missile operators from the Direct Support Platoon (Section d’appui direct, SAD).
Focusing on reconnaissance, observation, precision fire, and night operations, these specialized teams of the Escadron de reconnaissance (ER) — the traditional nickname of the 13e DBLE’s Combat Support Company (Compagnie d’Appui, CA) — enhanced their combat readiness and reinforced the 13e DBLE’s operational proficiency.
