2e REP: Exercise Touraco 2022

In late 2022, a joint military exercise took place in Ivory Coast, a country on the southern coast of West Africa that maintains close ties with France. Legionnaires from the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) participated.

Between November 23 and 30, 2022, the Ivory Coast Armed Forces (FACI), the French Forces in Ivory Coast (FFCI) and the French Air Force trained jointly airborne operations during Exercise Touraco.

The exercise saw several Ivorian and French units to take part. For the operational preparation phase, the legionnaires of the Combat Support Company (CA, ex-CEA), 2e REP and the Ivorian soldiers of the 1er BCP (Parachute Commando Battalion) benefited from the presence of an Airbus A400M Atlas military transport aircraft of the French Air Force.

During this training, the operational task force carried out numerous flights, assault poses on rough terrain and equipment drop sessions. The Legion and Ivorian paratroopers also made a series of five jumps by day and night in the Assinie, Yamoussoukro (the capital) and Bouaké sectors.

At the same time, other Ivorian soldiers, alongside French marines, conducted supporting operations on the ground.
