In early April 2020, Knut Flovik Thoresen, a Norwegian military officer and historian, released his another work dedicated to the Foreign Legion. He decided to map the allied expedition in northern Norway in April-May 1940 and, chiefly, the heroic fighting of the Foreign Legion’s 13th Foreign Legion Half Brigade (13e DBLE), which resulted in first allied victories over German forces in WWII.
Unfortunately, the book Narvik 1940: Fremmedlegionen i kamp for Norge (Narvik 1940: The Foreign Legion in battle for Norway) is currently only in Norwegian language. However, for those of you who are interested (and speaking Norwegian), you can buy the book here: Adlibris – Narvik 1940. (Please note, this is NOT an affiliate link to receive money. Thanks.)
Knut Flovik Thoresen (48) has studied history at the University of Agder. He is an author of several historical books focused mainly on the World War II period. Ranked Captain in the Norwegian Army, he served in Libya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo or in Afghanistan. In 2017, he published another book, Norwegians in the Foreign Legion from 1831 until 2017.
