2e REI: Border Storm exercise in England

At the end of March 2014, legionnaires from the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) of the Foreign Legion, were taking part in the Border Storm exercise on the Otterburn Training Area in Northumberland of Northern England.

The Otterburn Training Area is the largest firing range of the United Kingdom. The 3rd Company of 2e REI, reinforced by legionnaires of the 5th, Reconnaissance and Support (CEA) and Command and Logistics (CCL) companies, joined the exercise which was being run by the 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment (1 LANCS) of North Yorkshire.

During four days, around 120 legionnaires from 2e REI and 400 British soldiers from 1 LANCS were participating in the live firing exercise with mortars and small arms fire, section and platoon attacks and full company attacks.
