1er REG and 1er REC passed their exercises

In October and November 2012, 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) and 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC), the two regiments of the French Foreign Legion, passed their exercises.

The 400 legionnaires of the 1er REG improved their engineering skills during two weeks in October at camp of the Courtine, France. In total, they used more than 3,500kg of explosives and 2400 meters of detonating cord. The legionnaires were also firing with Famas, AT4 (an 84-mm unguided, portable, single-shot recoilless smoothbore weapon) and 12,7 (M2 Browning) installed at VAB.

The fifth “escadron” (section) of the 1er REC passed its November firing exercise at Canjuers, France. The legionnaires tested the new equipment for cavalry units.
