13e DBLE: Chairman EUMC to visit legionnaires in Paris

Last week, on December 13, 2018, General Claudio Graziano, the permanent Chairman of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC) visited legionnaires of the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion (13e DBLE) at their Center of Command of Operation Sentinelle during his official visit to France.

The 13e DBLE legionnaires were visited by General Graziano in Paris, where they are currently taking part in Operation Sentinelle (a French internal operation with the objective of protecting France’s sensitive and important places from terrorism). The Chairman EUMC wanted to see one of the Centers of Command of the operation. As he stated later, it was “a good example of cooperation between Armed Forces and Internal Forces for the security of the country”.

The EUMC was established in December 2000. It is the body of the European Union’s Common Security and Defence Policy that is composed of member states’ Chiefs of Defence (CHOD). The Committee gives military advice to the European Union’s High Representative (HR) and Political and Security Committee (PSC). The EUMC also oversees the European Union Military Staff (EUMS).
