2e REP: New Sea Rib Aluminium Boats | French Foreign Legion Information

A few days ago, to improve their amphibious capabilities during military operations, the 3rd Company of the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) received two new Sea Rib Aluminium Boats (SRA) from the Zodiac Milpro company.

According to the French company, the new Zodiac SRA boats are designed to be strong and reliable and capable to face the hardest sea conditions. Built for transporting 11 persons, the new boats of the Foreign Legion’s 2e REP are equipped with 400hp power outboard engines, allowing to speed up to 90 km/h. Both Zodiacs are equipped with a MAG-58 machine gun.

2e REP - 2 REP - Algeria - Mers El Kebir - Zodiac - 1963 — 2e REP legionnaires from 3rd Company train with a Zodiac in Algeria, late 1963. That year, the company was designated to be specialized in amphibious warfare and became the amphibious company of the regiment.
