This week, on February 17, volunteers from the 2nd Volunteer Company (2e CEV), 4th Foreign Regiment (4e RE) of the French Foreign Legion became legionnaires and obtained their Képi blanc (White kepi) during a ceremony at Lagrasse Abbey, southern France.
After four-week-long basic training at one of the Legion’s farm, and just after finishing the 60 km (40 miles) long Marche Képi Blanc, 45 volunteers participated in the Remise de Képi blanc (Obtaining the White kepi) ceremony at the Abbey of St. Mary of Lagrasse, a Benedictine abbey being founded in the 7th century. During the ceremony, volunteers are officially integrated into the Legion.
