Former Foreign Legion units: 1920-1945

See a well-ordered list of former, already disbanded units of the French Foreign Legion activated during the period of 1920-1945. These former Foreign Legion units served in North Africa, French Indochina, France and other places between the two World Wars and during WWII. Former Foreign Legion units: 1940 – 1945

The former Foreign Legion units activated between June 1940 and May 1945, when the Second World War in Europe was over. The already disbanded units are arranged by the date of their activation.

Former Foreign Legion units: Europe 1939 – 1940

The former Foreign Legion units activated in Europe between September 1939 and June 1940 to defend France and (later) to take part in the Battle of France (May-June 1940). All of these units were disbanded in 1940. They are arranged by the date of their activation.
PS: Note that the 12e BP (Pioneer Battalion) isn’t included – it wasn’t a Legion unit.
