Operation Barkhane: Immersion in the three-border region

See the French Army’s nice report on Foreign Legion military activities in the important three-border region of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, situated in the Sahel area of West Africa, around April-May 2020, aimed at local armed terrorist groups (GAT).

We can see officers and legionnaires of the combined Desert Task Force “Centurion”, armed in the vast majority by the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC), as well as a few images of legionnaires from the Desert Task Force “Dragon”, armed mostly by the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI), and supported by 1er REC reconnaissance elements. Both task forces are supplemented by men of the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) for mine searching and clearing the roads.

Notes:
Sous-groupement “Gris” – HQ Squadron, 1er REC
Groupement Tactique Désert 2 – Desert Task Force “Centurion”
