In February 2018, legionnaires of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) conducted a joint military exercise in southern France, together with men of the United States Marine Corps (USMC).
The 2e REI legionnaires from the 2nd Company and U.S. Marines were training at Camp des Garrigues, a large military camp located near Nimes, the garrison of the regiment in southern France. The exercise was focused on the ability of allied forces to operate quickly and effectively as an interoperable multi-national team.
Similar joint exercises with U.S. Marines are not rare, they are carried out on regular basis.
