1er REG: 1re CCG’s SAR Builds Reinforced Training Trench

In September 2026, legionnaires from the Support and Reconnaissance Platoon (SAR) of the 1st Combat Engineer Company (1re CCG) within the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) completed a demanding eight-day field project: the construction of a reinforced trench stretching over 330 feet (around 100 meters).

Beyond its practical outcome, the project also served as a hands-on training exercise, giving the SAR legionnaires an opportunity to apply their combat engineering skills in the field while facilitating knowledge transfer between experienced soldiers and newer members of the platoon.

Once fully finished, the reinforced trench will remain in place as a permanent training asset for the entire 1er REG. It is intended to provide a realistic setting for tactical and technical instruction, including training in the maintenance of defensive fieldworks. This is a set of skills that has regained particular relevance in recent years.
