2e REG: The sixth legionnaire caught by avalanche died

On Monday, January 25, the sixth legionnaire caught by the avalanche in the French Alps died from his injuries. He was among those fourteen members of the Foreign Legion’s 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG) caught by the avalanche during mountain warfare basic training.

1re Classe David Hetenyi, a Hungarian aged 23, joined the Foreign Legion in December 2014. Severely wounded by the avalanche near Valfrejus (a ski resort), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France on January 18, he died from his injuries a week later.
