Exercise Tafakula 2013. During the first half of September, the platoons from the United States Marine Corps, the Tongan armed forces and the French Foreign Legion realized an exercise in the Kingdom of Tonga, a Polynesian state in the southern Pacific Ocean.
In this exercise, there were participated platoons from the 3rd Regiment of Marine Rotational Force – Darwin (based in Australia), the Tongan Defence Service and the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) of the Foreign Legion. The platoon of 2e REI is on the four-months mission in the New Caledonia, a special collectivity of France located in the southwest Pacific Ocean next to Australia. During the training, the platoons worked together to improve their security skills.
