Recently, legionnaires of the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) took part in the annual Camerone Day Challenge, a series of sports competitions held in the days leading up to the main day of the French Foreign Legion to which the regiment belongs.
The event brought together all companies to compete in team and individual events that tested both physical endurance and team spirit. Among the featured challenges were a cross-country run, a team powerlifting event, a group commando course, and classic English boxing. The soldiers gave it their all, showing grit, determination, and camaraderie throughout the competition.
The main celebration falls on April 30, commemorating the historic 1863 Battle of Camerone — a courageous fight that shaped the identity and esprit de corps of the Foreign Legion. This legacy continues to inspire today’s legionnaires.
