From March 24 to April 5, 2025, Exercise Fer de Lance 2025 took place in French Guiana. The goal of this international training was to improve teamwork and fast response in difficult situations like natural disasters or security crises. The 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment (3e REI) participated.
Fer de Lance 2025 brought together forces from France, Suriname, Brazil, and the Republic of Guyana (not to be confused with French Guiana). The goal of the exercise was to enhance regional defense cooperation and test joint capabilities in complex environments, including jungle terrain and urban crisis scenarios.
As part of the French Armed Forces in Guiana (FAG), the 3e REI had a key mission: to quickly deploy and carry out an evacuation of civilians. The unit was given only a short time to prepare and then had to move fast to help evacuate people safely from a dangerous area. Operating in coordination with regional partners, the regiment showcased its combat readiness and operational flexibility.
Exercise Fer de Lance (Spearhead) is an annual exercise designed to strengthen operational ties within the region. For the 3e REI, it was a chance to show that the legionnaires are ready to act anytime and anywhere.
