2e REP: 1st Company in New Caledonia 2021

Currently, legionnaires from the 1st Company of the French Foreign Legion’s 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) are being deplyed to New Caledonia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean, situated some 750 miles (1,200 km) east of Australia.

The legionnaires from the 1st Company deployed to New Caledonia for the so-called Short Duration Mission (MCD) that usually lasts four months. Their task is to become Parachute Company (COMPARA) of the New Caledonia Pacific Marine Infantry Regiment (RIMaP-NC) and maintain a French presence in the Pacific region. The COMPARA is formed by rotating elements coming from France. It is based at Plum, in the South Province of the island.

In April 2021, the 1st Company 2e REP legionnaires conducted a training activity at the Pirogue River Camp including a helicoper transport and shooting exercise. See the video (the video is not allowed to be embedded in public, so, follow the link to the FB post):
