French troops placed in Mali participate in numerous operations to find out last rebel’s hideouts or to protect already cleared regions. The French Army has released a few new images from such operations.
Hélie Denoix de Saint Marc – a pay homage video
As stated earlier, the former Foreign Legion officer and putschist Hélie Denoix de Saint Marc has died. The last homage was paid to him in the Saint-Jean Cathedral in Lyon, thereafter in the Saint-Jean square in front of the cathedral, on August 30, 2013.
2e REP parachuting videos

Aged 91, Hélie Denoix de Saint Marc, the main Foreign Legion figure participating in the Generals’ Putsch against French president Charles de Gaulle in Algeria in 1961, has died on August 26, 2013.

2e REI and 1er REC – an urban warfare exercise
Videoclip of the urban area tactic combat exercise of September 2012. The 1st and 3rd companies of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI), with a platoon of the 4th squadron of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC) of the French Foreign Legion and some members of the regular French Army participated in the urban warfare exercise at Urban area warfare exercise center (Centre d’Entraînement aux actions en Zone Urbaine, CENZUB) in Sissonne, northern France, between September 16th and 29th of 2012.

Netero and Météorite operations in Mali
Some images from Operation Netero and Operation Météorite. The operations took place in Mali last month (July). During two weeks of Operation Netero, three companies of legionnaires (together with Malian and Nigerian troops) were searching for rebels east and southeast of Gao, in the 100km x 100km (62×62 miles) large area.
2e REG – pay homage ceremony to the dead Senior Corporal
On 12th July 2013, Senior Corporal (Caporal-chef) Loureiro, a legionnaire from the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG), have died in an accident during the four-month mission in French Guiana. On July 25, the ceremony to pay homage to the dead Senior Corporal was organized within the 2e REG. The Irish legionnaire blogging about his life in the Legion was also present. See images.
