Every year, the French Foreign Legion commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of Camerone, the most famous event in its history. Also in 2016, on April 30, Camerone Day, the officers, NCOs and legionnaires of the Foreign Legion commemorated the 153rd Anniversary of the battle. 2e REP: Krav Maga on Camerone Day 2015
See the Krav Maga demonstration conducted by legionnaires from the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) at their base Camp Raffalli located near Calvi, Corsica. The European Krav Maga expert, Jean Paul Jauffret, the ex-legionnaire who has trained the 2e REP legionnaires for a long period, demonstrated together with men of the 4th Company + Command & Logistics Company its skills to a live audience, during Camerone Day 2015.

Camerone 2014 in Orange
On April 30, 2014, the legionnaires of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC), the only cavalry regiment of the Foreign Legion, celebrated its last Camerone Day (Camerone) in Orange (southeastern France). Camerone 2014 in Nimes
The 151st anniversary of the Battle of Camerone was also celebrated in Nimes (southern France), headquarters of the 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI). Camerone Day (Camerone) took part in the local elliptical Roman amphitheatre (Arènes), the best-preserved Roman arena in France. See some images.

French Foreign Legion 1949 documentary
A short French documentary about the Foreign Legion released in 1949. Very nice images of the Foreign Legion main base in Sidi Bel Abbes (Algeria) while celebrating Camerone Day. A lot of legionnaires caught in the film will die during next five years in the First Indochina War. We can also see historical images of a typical legionnaires job of that time: hard-working with “la pioche“, a pickaxe.

The 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1REC) of the French Foreign Legion celebrates the Camerone day in Orange, its garrison. “Camerone day” means the Battle of Camerone (Bataille de Camerone).
