In the second half of March 2023, legionnaires from three Foreign Legion regiments are deployed to the Combat Training Center (Centre d’Entraînement au Combat, CENTAC) at the Mailly Camp, in the Aube Department of Northeastern France.
The men from the Legion’s 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment (1er REC), 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI), and 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG), accompanied by artillerymen from the 3rd Marine Artillery Regiment (3e RAMa), have formed Combined Task Force Dragon (GTIA Dragon) and train in the open space of the Mailly Camp. Their training is focused on improving their knowledge and use of the new VBMR Griffon vehicles and the modern SICS battlefield management system.
The legionnaires train dismounted combat under demanding and realistic conditions and learn how to inflict maximum casualties on the enemy and prevent him from reorganizing. By the way, during the training at the CENTAC, each direct or indirect fire is simulated, reproducing in real time their effects on soldiers and equipment.
