See several nice images of combat engineers from the 2nd Foreign Engineer Regiment (2e REG), the youngest regiment of the French Foreign Legion, during their training or an overseas military operation in July-August 2019.
On the 1st of July 2019, the 2e REG commemorated the 20th anniversary of the creation. The youngest regiment of the French Foreign Legion, nicknamed as the “Mountain regiment”, serves within the 27th Mountain Infantry Brigade (27e BIM). The unit carries out a variety of military, construction and demolition tasks under extreme climatic conditions. The 2e REG includes two commando units, Mountain Commando Group (GCM) and Engineer Combat Divers (PCG, formerly DINOPS), as well as a Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team dealing with disarmament and disposal of high explosive munitions.
Below are sets of images presenting the 3rd Company, 2e REG being deployed in anti-terrorist Operation Barkhane in Mali, West Africa, as well as mountain commandos and frogmen during their training or the new commanding officer of the regiment, Colonel Antoine de la Bardonnie.
