Since the 20th May, Foreign Legion combat engineers of the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment (1er REG) have participated in an annual joint military exercise called CIADA. The primary aim is to maintain their operational readiness and to train cooperation within a combined task force.
CIADA 2019 takes place at military camps in the Champagne-Ardenne province of northeastern France, mainly at the Combat Training Center (Centre d’Entraînement au Combat, CENTAC) of the Mailly Camp, one of the most important military training camps in France. The CENTAC is reserved for military training in a company/squadron level. It is situated east of Mailly-le-Camp.
During the exercise, the 1er REG legionnaires-engineers operate within a joint task force (GTIA) with other regiments of their 6th Light Armored Brigade (6e BLB), including their comrades from the 2nd Company, 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI) and 2nd Company, 13th Foreign Legion Half Brigade (13e DBLE).
The exercise will end this week.
