2e REI: 5th Company patrolling in Paris | French Foreign Legion Information

As stated before, within the Foreign Legion’s 2nd Foreign Infantry Regiment (2e REI), the 5th Company was re-created in June 2015. A few months later, the company is already en mission. Its legionnaires deployed to Paris, to participate in Operation SENTINELLE.

This operation was launched after the January 2015 terrorist attacks on Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris. Around 1,500 French troops, including legionnaires, are involved in the operation. The 5th Company, 2e REI will patrol in Paris for next few weeks.
